چکیده

This study investigated algal-bacterial shortcut nitrogen removal (SNR) in photo-sequencing batch reactors (PSBRs) for treatment of high ammonium strength wastewater using both experimental and modeling approaches. Bench-scale PSBR studies were carried out under alternating light dark cycles, provided aerobic anoxic conditions that promoted nitritation/ denitritation. Total efficiencies >90% achieved when favorable operating conditions, including solids retention time (SRT) organic inorganic carbon availability, applied the functional microorganisms. A dynamic model was developed to simulate conversions species activity algae, ammonia oxidizing, nitrite oxidizing heterotrophic bacteria. In addition, biomass wasting during each cycle estimated by maintain targeted SRT. The able capture dynamics removal, substrate utilization generation varying can potentially be used large scale design optimization. • High algae Shortcut light/dark periods. Model dissolved particulate conversion. elucidated process daily cycles long-term operation.

Nitrogen Removal over Nitrite by Aeration Control in Aerobic Granular Sludge Sequencing Batch Reactors

This study investigated the potential of aeration control for the achievement of N-removal over nitrite with aerobic granular sludge in sequencing batch reactors. N-removal over nitrite requires less COD, which is particularly interesting if COD is the limiting parameter for nutrient removal. The nutrient removal performances for COD, N and P have been analyzed as well as the concentration of n...

Integrated real-time control strategy for nitrogen removal in swine wastewater treatment using sequencing batch reactors.

A new integrated real-time control system was designed and operated with fluctuating influent loads for swine wastewater treatment. The system was operated with automatic addition control of an external carbon source, using real-time control technology, which utilized the oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) and the pH as parameters to control the anoxic phase and oxic phase, respectively. The f...

Intelligent Control of Sequencing Batch Reactors (SBRs) for Biological Nitrogen Removal

This paper shows the application of several kinds of artificial intelligence techniques in the development of a control system for a biochemical process. A wastewater treatment process for nitrogen removal in a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) is presented first; two different approaches to identify the endpoint of the biological reactions are introduced. The paper compares and analyzes the resul...

Benchmarking Sequencing Batch Reactors for Wastewater Treatment

A benchmark for the test of control scenarios of sequencing batch reactors (SBR) used for wastewater treatment is proposed. The plant layout includes a buffer tank for wastewater storage in front of the SBR. Performance criteria based mainly on the quality of the effluent are given. The use of the benchmark is illustrated by the study of the effects on the effluent of the control of dissolved o...
